Route 2 Roots Wellness is a radical self-care movement rooted in the reclamation of ancestral practices, the prioritization of play, and healing from emotional insobriety and high functioning stress as a lifestyle.

Our services aim to achieve this mission by prioritizing:

1) Unlearning anxiety, high functioning stress, emotional insobriety, and other self-injuring thoughts, beliefs, associations, and behaviors as trauma responses to life’s stressors. The pillars of our country are white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism and imperial Christianity (not to be confused with people’s sincere faith; but rather we are explicitly referring to the religion empires and governments have co-opted). These colonial ideologies have normalized the mere awareness of systemic racial inequality as laudable breakthroughs and the inaction or never-ending “progressive” restructuring of these systems as acceptable. We’ve been numbed to the evil of disparity of pay, the horror of doubting our intuition, and the depravity of how this sophisticated system of oppression has been authorized by the moral authority of the church through its historic violence and present-day silence. These teachings are oppressive and inhumane. We will begin our work by identifying and unlearning these conscious and subtle thoughts, beliefs, and actions we embody that perpetuate the upholding of these systems.

2) Remembering and reclaiming confidence as a birthright, because it reflects belief in the divine dwelling inside of each of us. When harnessed this will manifest in our ability to set boundaries that honor work-life balance, support us in unraveling from codependent relationships, and make decisions and support behaviors aligned with self-aware values.

3) Conceptualizing love of self. Nayyirah Waheed said, “i love myself. the quietest. simplest. most powerful revolution ever.” The most powerful social justice movements are the lives we live well and on purpose. Route 2 Roots Wellness holds space for our folks to identify their unique self-care needs and preferences through the exploration and validation of their intuition and life experiences as their most credible source.  We use your discoveries and affirmations to establish plans on how to integrate your chosen practices into your everyday lives. It’s your route. You decide how much or how little support you need. We got your back and offer a variety of resources inclusive of one on one wellness coaching, radical self-care retreats, herbal consultations, and plant-based cooking classes; so you can always re-evaluate, adapt, and/or switch practices so they remain enjoyable yet growth producing and relevant to your life changes.

4) Living these practices when you return to your community.The Zulu word “Ubuntu” is often translated to mean “I am, because we are.” If folks are to be successful in integrating their identified wellness practices into their everyday lives, it will take a village of accountability and support in between our work together. In addition to the tribe you will form with other participants, we also offer resources to equip you to hold sacred space for your families and others, so you can integrate aspects of our radical self-care retreats and practices in your homes and communities.
